Former Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid Has Passed Away
Former President of the Republic of Indonesian Abdurrahman Wahid, who was often referred to as "Gus Dur", passed away on Wednesday, 30 December 2009, at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta, due to complications arising from diabetes and heart problem.
The late “Gus Dur” will be buried at Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Tebu Ireng in Jombang, East Java, on Thursday, December 31, 2009 in a state ceremony, led by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Mr. Wahid was the fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia during 1999 and 2001.
